Lisburn Chamber of Commerce recently held a socially distanced lunch to mark the retirement of Chamber secretary, Barbara Martin after 21 years’ service. Guest of honour was the Mayor, Councillor, Nicholas Trimble and Chamber President, Garry MacDonald welcomed everyone to the special occasion, held at Café Vic Ryn.
Mrs Martin was appointed to her position in 1999 and all the presidents from 1999 to 2020 were invited for a reunion with the current Chamber committee. The ten former presidents who were able to attend were, Billy Rogan, Ernie Knox, Trevor Lunn MLA, Ellen Hillen, Richard Knox, Belinda O’Neill, John Steen, Stephen Houston, Jonathan Steen and Evan Morton.
Mr MacDonald commented on Barbara’s career from the early days to the current era and the many changes that had taken place. To commemorate the occasion, a painting of Lisburn by local artist, Keith Drury, was presented to Mrs Martin and the Mayor also presented a gift.
The Chamber President also used the occasion to present a cheque to the Mayor’s Charity, the Lisburn Foodbank in recognition of their excellent work undertaken in recent months. The Mayor closed the event with thanks to the Chamber for the kind donation.
